Some of you may have been involved with or seen this challenge unfold on Facebook. One person challenges 10 ‘friends’ – one per day with a picture attached of an album/CD/cassette that was influential during their musical formative years. I was challenged and began to comply but ultimately messed up by forgetting to post two of the days but I have rectified the situation and hopefully we should now be good. I have attached below the albums I chose – not really in any particular order and not really 100% comprehensive. After all, how can you capture the essence of all that musical wow in just 10 single albums?
For your consideration, I give you my 10 selections as presented on Facebook. Enjoy.
I’m slowly scanning the living room of my home. Nothing. Nothing around me looks anything like my sophomore English classroom of 1987. But yet, here we are. A very small handful of people on social media might remember me from Grandview High School. Of that tiny handful, probably only one or two may have been with me during that fateful day in the fall of 1987.
So how is everyone doing today? I sometimes get caught up in the leaving tide of weird thoughts. During the prolonged minutes leading up to my slumber one night, somehow, I found myself thinking about Shakespeare – William of course. In years gone by, I remember reading somewhere that William Shakespeare knew about 30,000 words. That’s pretty darn impressive I do says. As I lie there flopping about on the mattress, I wondered how they knew this? Then I deduced that the powers that be must have logically come about this figure based on his published works and the words included therein. Open and closed case. Or is it?
Every so often I need to clean up my laptop desktop area. In doing so I tend to notice quite a bit has accumulated there. For your review and judgement, I present the most recent weeks worth of clutter. Enjoy. Stay safe out there.
Good afternoon! Welcome to my blog. For reasons unknown, my brain woke me up in the middle of the night last night. After bouncing around some other trivial topics, it locked onto this meme I have seen on Facebook about a dozen times. The meme shows a nice-looking log cabin surrounded by trees or adjacent to a lake surrounded by trees with the caption:
Could you stay here for one month with no phone or internet for $100,000?
Hello! I hope your February is going a lot better than my month and year is so far.
In my Freak Show Podcast this morning I acknowledged that I have been super lazy on the blog front here in recent weeks; whereas on the podcast side I have been fairly consistent. The reason? It’s so much easier to talk in free form and just roll with your thoughts. On the blog side there is more editing and sifting the finer points of the topic. The finished product for my blog most times I think is superior to my podcast (you don’t have to listen to my voice for starters).
But like most people, I take the shortcuts where I can and that means that the content for my blog isn’t as full this year in relation to my ever-expanding podcast universe on Soundcloud. Here at my blog I use WordPress and I’m fairly pleased with the free set up. I don’t include a ton of photos or videos so I don’t come close to touching their data limits. Plus I get to see the worldwide stats for my specific posts (regardless of post age) and I like that a lot.
For those that frequent this site or those other social media hubs with the intent to read or listen to my offerings, I thank you. I forever try to do better. Coming up, I will probably post a few sports related pieces here soon as we are on the cusp of another baseball season (hellulujeah!).
Everyone have a great week and please check back soon or hit me up with topics you liked or would like my two cents worth on…
Hello! Thank you for dropping in on my tiny slice of cyber-where. This will be my final blog post…this year. I’ve included some rando pictures of silly stuffs. I anticipate much will change in 2020…and some things will not. What will those changes look like, it’s hard to say at the moment. But like most things in life, you can jump into the surf and wade out to meet them or just wait on the shore to see if the repercussions will be impactful.
Welcome to December 29th! It’s a Sunday with no special circumstances to alleviate the work day forthcoming tomorrow (the dreaded Monday). It’s not New Year’s Eve Eve Eve’s fault. So remember Sunday is still a good thing until about 7-8pm when the mind turns towards the impending tomorrow. Please enjoy the time we have left until Monday poisons the last tidbit of our weekend.
So back on June 24th, 2019 (the day after my birthday) and twelve days before I had my heart attack, I wrote a piece detailing the horrific experiments done in the hollow name of science on living, breathing and AWAKE cats and kittens. Writing the piece and thinking about the psychopathic practices of a organization touting itself as an institution of higher learning, made me physically ill. I’m not exaggerating or joking one bit either.
Normally I can infuse some levity and silliness into my posts but there was zero to joke about on this topic. The facts pertaining to their experiments and flawed research was something out of a Mary Shelley novel…only cruelly worse. In this day and age of iPad simulations and medical Virtual Reality technology, the thought of so-called ‘educated people’ to still be bumbling along like researcher neanderthals is tragic and shameful.
Yesterday I received an e-mail notification regarding an on-line petition I signed protesting SUNY University. The petition update alleged that SUNY University has finally ceased this abhorrent practice that they have been perpetrating for over three decades! I truly hope this is accurate. Now I can shift my focus to try to get the powers that be at SUNY to have a conscience and have them donate food and litter to shelters in need for their cat/kitten populace. I doubt they will have any remorse and aim to make any amends but all I can do it try.
Everyone please love one another and of course your furry friends as we approach Thanksgiving. Check back often for more posts or if you are so inclined, give my podcast (The Freak Show on Soundcloud) a listen.
Every so often I like to grab a snapshot of the random images that have accumulated on my computer desktop and post them on here. The purpose is two-fold:
One, I get to use the collage feature. And two, by posting these random and unrelated picture, I want to try to make my readers venture a guess as to why I was looking at/downloading each photo. So with that put out into our universe…let’s go!
Everyone have a spooky and ghoulish good week! Blah Blah Blah! (said in the voice of an old-time Count Dracula!)
For those of you who read my blog from time to time, you may recall I applied once to become a contributor to Cards Against Humanity. Alas I was not selected to join their twisted ranks. But undaunted I once again hop into the fray! This time I have applied to become a paid FRIENDS binge watcher! I already watch the show during the week at work and at home for free so why not try to make a little $$$ in the process? BING! Below is the link to the job application and under that is my response to the mandatory essay question they asked. Hope you find it intriguing or maybe at least logical. Enjoy.
