Waaay too early panic bus edition of Cleveland Indians Baseball 2019

Hello and spiffy Monday morning to everyone!

As a long suffering Indians fan, I am here to put my spin on the start to the season and my brutally honest assessment of my team’s chances in 2019. Today is April 1st…April Fools Day and as of this morning, the Cleveland Indians are in last place in their division sitting at 1 win and 2 losses. The silver lining is that the season is just begun and the team is only a game out of first place. Continue reading “Waaay too early panic bus edition of Cleveland Indians Baseball 2019”

MLB: Recognize the Power of Three (year contracts)

Good day and welcome to my blog! Some days the topics are as random as they get and others I am very driven to box up a specific point (of view) and deliver it to my readers. Today is one of those such days!

My Next Tattoo

Hello worldwide readers! Feel free to browse around my blog for a wide-ranging list of topics and interesting perspectives on said topics. As many of you know, I am in the middle of a money drought mostly due to my upcoming wedding in less than four weeks. Then in short order afterwards, Christmas shall be here. Hopefully by February or March I will be able to dig out from under the associated debts for these two events or at least that is my plan. At that time (February-March) I hope to get back in the tattoo chair for some new body art and the blood-letting experience that goes with it.

Cleveland Indians: Playoffs Woes and No’s

zombie indian

Here we are again friends. To steal a cute little thing from the local St Louis sports people, the panic bus is gassed up and accepting new passengers. Today is Monday, October 8th. My Indians play game three of their series with the Houston Astros today in Cleveland…and if they don’t find a way to win, their 2018 postseason will amount to the same amount of postseason wins as the Baltimore Orioles.

If we could rewind to last year in game three of the Indians first round series (versus the New York Yankees) in New York for a moment please. The scene: My Indians were trailing 1-0 in the sixth inning when Francisco Lindor hit a sure-fire two-run homerun to right center field. There was just one problem. A six foot seven inch problem with a long arm and the ability to jump a little. Of course I’m speaking of Aaron Judge of the Yankees. His defensive thievery cost the Indians two runs and potentially the game and after that who knows. Continue reading “Cleveland Indians: Playoffs Woes and No’s”

10-5 Good Buddy!

Cleveland_Indians_logo.svg_

Hello and welcome to my blog! Today is Friday, October 5th. Today begins the postseason path for my Cleveland Indians. As always I am hopeful that my team with be blessed with good fortune, as all dedicated fans hope I’m sure. They are pitted against the defending World Champions, the Houston Astros. Right now they have a one in four chance to make it to the World Series from the American League side. If this is to be THE YEAR, they are certainly going to have to earn it. Standing in their way immediately are the Houston Astros (defending champs). If they should advance, they would play the winner of the Boston Red Sox (best team in the regular season) and New York Yankees (3rd best team in the regular season behind Boston and Houston). As tasks go, this one couldn’t get any more daunting. If they survive the gauntlet of 100 win AL teams, then there is the final test in the World Series against the National League representative. The goal is 11 wins and there are no style points. Any of the 8 teams still alive will gladly take any and all ugly wins they can get. To navigate through the Division series into the League Championship series and finally into the World Series takes a team with great fortitude, talent and a little bit of luck. It’s been two years since my Indians were agonizingly close in that 2016 World Series with the Cubs (after blowing a 3-1 series lead). They got to 10 wins that year…this year I am hoping beyond hope that they make it to 11. We shall see.

Peace.

Cleveland Indians vs the AL Playoff Contenders

Cleveland_Indians_logo.svg_

Hello! I am an avid follower of my Cleveland Indians, sometimes much to my chagrin. I usually do a piece once or twice per season to ‘break down’ my team’s performance and spotlight where I see concerns heading into the Hunt for October Gold. Many, many years ago I swore a personal oath that I would get a tattoo to commemorate if/when the Indians would win a World Series title in my lifetime. As of this writing, I have no such tattoo…but I’m ever hopeful. And for the record, it will be a full color or black and white rendering of Chief Wahoo. Those people who are offended by a cartoon rendering of an Indian or think that the depiction is offensive…get a clue and a life. I will not apologize for my stance on this topic and you can Google my other pieces that I’ve written detailing why the cartoon image should be left alone. Jurassic Tuesday

Good afternoon!

Tonight I am supposed to drive to the stadium to see my Indians play the Cardinals but Mother Nature seems a bit weepy so the game may be delayed or postponed. If such should happen, my backup plan would be to see Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom again!  Continue reading “Jurassic Tuesday”

May 7th Cleveland Indians Report

Good afternoon and welcome to my blog. A few times each year I will take to this forum to discuss my favorite baseball team, the Cleveland Indians. Unlike some baseball fans who only gripe about the problems with their team or are completely bias when it comes to their favorites, I break down my team in an honest fashion and at least offer semi-reasonable solutions. Also when I perceive weakness with a player or position or unit, I suggest a solution or point out how the problem could have been avoided. So with the tracks greased, let’s shove off and see how much speed we can pick up before the termination point! Continue reading “May 7th Cleveland Indians Report”

MLB Salary Crisis

Good day. I come to you under the direst of circumstances to talk about what is plaguing Major League Baseball today: Player salaries. There it’s out. Now we can stop ignoring the butterfly in the room…or was it an elephant? Who knows.

Since the 2017 World Series ended and free agency opened up, there have been more than a few player movement deals but not nearly as many as in previous years. For whatever reasons, during this off season the general managers have drawn their line in the sand and shown actual restraint. It has been spooky. Normally by this time in spring training, fans have a plethora of signings to mull over and jabber about for the good and the bad. ‘Franchise X grossly overpaid for this player to fill a need but so did about a dozen others.’ Continue reading “MLB Salary Crisis”

Cleveland Indians Visit Busch Stadium in 2018!

OK I know I just posted but I got a special link to get reduced Flash Sale tickets for Monday through Thursday games on the St Louis Cardinals schedule. In scanning their schedule I ran across tickets for my Cleveland Indians for June 25-26-27 which is just days after my birthday! Rejoice! Yaaaay!

OK I’m better now. But that really pepped up my morning. Yes!

Have a great day!

Chief Wahoo and The Cleveland Indians

Hello and welcome to my blog.

As many of my friends and readers know, I am a Cleveland Indians baseball fan. I have said on numerous occasions that I would get a tattoo of Chief Wahoo when the Indians win the World Series. The best chances of that happening may have been in 2016 and 2017. But this week, the evil overlord of Major League Baseball, Darth Manfred finally coerced the ownership of the Cleveland Indians to abandon the Chief Wahoo logo in favor of the scripted ‘I’ or a ‘C’ permanently starting in 2019. So this is our last hurrah as Jake Taylor would say. Continue reading “Chief Wahoo and The Cleveland Indians”

Cleveland Indians 2018 Preview

Good day one and all! This post is about my Cleveland Indians. Spring training is still about a month away and Spring Training games after that. But as of the middle of January 2018 I am looking at my team…and I am concerned. Continue reading “Cleveland Indians 2018 Preview”

2017 Cleveland Indians – Final

I woke up this morning and the sky was a hazy gray. When I stepped outside, a fine mist greeted me. It was fitting. Depressing the remote entry button for the car, I proceeded to get into my 2015 Hyundai Sonata and situate myself. After the usual routine of locking in my seat belt, my next order of business was turning on my Zune player and pulling up my Linkin Park folder of albums. From there I selected Play All. Why was this my selection over perhaps some local radio chatter or one of the thirty CD options at my disposal? It just felt like the way to go in my gut, so I ran with it.

Where are you Jeffrey Maier??

Today is October 11, 2017. This is the month of October and coinciding with the MLB playoffs leading up to the World Series. Let’s step back in time for a moment to 1996, October 9th to be exact. There was a baseball game that took place in New York between the New York Yankees and the Baltimore Orioles. A 12-year old boy had the biggest influence on this baseball game played by professional athletes. The beneficiary of Jeffrey Maier’s interference was Derek Jeter and the New York Yankees franchise. On this particular day, Derek Jeter hit a deep fly ball near the top of the outfield wall. Orioles’ outfielder Tony Tarasco tracked the ball’s trajectory and settled under the spot the ball was descending towards. Mr. Tarasco reached up to secure the ball, for the catch, for an out…but uh, oh. The ball never reached his glove.
