It’s been one week…

That old song by Barenaked Ladies from their Stunt album released in 1998 is running through my head today as I note the one week mark since I was laid off from my job. In some ways the week went very fast and in others…it was painfully slow.

Things I’ve accomplished over the last seven days whilst being confined (mostly) to the home quarters:

  • Showered and put on deodorant daily
  • Vacuumed (once – still counts!)
  • Washed dishes (more than once!)
  • Put on a dress shirt (twice) for video job interviews
  • Sketched and painted a picture for the first time in five years
  • Posted on my blog
  • Ate a healthy breakfast each day (not necessarily in the morning time)

One thing I have learned from my time off is that I need to go back to work soon. Why? Because if I go too much longer here unsupervised, I will gain a significant amount of weight which will require that I purchase new work clothes. Additionally, I am finding waaaaay too many things that I ‘need‘ on Amazon.com and ebay.com in varying genres.

Hopefully everyone is using this time to catch up on the Chuck & Dave Podcast hosted on Soundcloud under The Freak Show Podcast site.

Everyone stay safe, sane and sanitary out there!

Peace. <<04-10-2020>>

Cooking Up Stress

So new year and new stuff. As it is currently winter in this hemisphere, the weather is cold and mostly forbidding to be outside although not as harsh as some years. For most winters I tend to spend quite a bit of time inside…and eating. This year is no different. The scale reading of my weight in Earth pounds backs up this claim most egregiously.

Pre-Halloween 2019 Image Jumble!

Hello all!

Every so often I like to grab a snapshot of the random images that have accumulated on my computer desktop and post them on here. The purpose is two-fold:

One, I get to use the collage feature. And two, by posting these random and unrelated picture, I want to try to make my readers venture a guess as to why I was looking at/downloading each photo. So with that put out into our universe…let’s go!

Everyone have a spooky and ghoulish good week! Blah Blah Blah! (said in the voice of an old-time Count Dracula!)

Peace.

F*R*I*E*N*D*S: The One With The Job

Hello!

For those of you who read my blog from time to time, you may recall I applied once to become a contributor to Cards Against Humanity. Alas I was not selected to join their twisted ranks. But undaunted I once again hop into the fray! This time I have applied to become a paid FRIENDS binge watcher! I already watch the show during the week at work and at home for free so why not try to make a little $$$ in the process? BING! Below is the link to the job application and under that is my response to the mandatory essay question they asked. Hope you find it intriguing or maybe at least logical. Enjoy.

Adulting with softball crossover (HIPPA release included)

Today marks 32 days since I had my ill-timed heart attack in Sherwood, Arkansas (is there really a good time to have a heart attack?). Furthermore, it has been thirty days from my hospital release date. In many ways it seems like a long time since then and in the same vein it feels like only yesterday. Sometimes, depending on how a fall asleep, I wake up and feel like the IV’s are still in the crook of each arm but then I move and the sensation dissipates. Starting with the moment I was lifted up into that ambulance, then continuing through coming back home and meeting with the local doctors (cardiologists, thyroid doctors, etc.), I have intently listened to what they have told me I need to do. In the context of their medical recommendations and strategies to put me on the path to returning to normalcy, I have also been doing some figurative cosmic math. World View – Mid-Month

Good day! Today is Monday and below is a breakdown of the hits so far this month on my blog. During the height of my blog’s momentum a few years ago, I was getting around 400+ views a month. As my monthly entries have fallen off, so too has the volume of web traffic. Of the countries on this list, I’ve only visited one of them…but it would be nice to aspire to set foot on the soil of a few more of these. #DareToDream

Post Production

Hello all!

I know the title sounds like I am wrapping up a movie or an epic HBO series but in reality, I’m talking about the output (quantity) of posts for my blog. So far this year of 2019 I have produced 16 posts (not including this one). By comparison, last year in June alone I posted 14 times!

AM I LOSING MY DESIRE TO WRITE AND SHARE?! AM I?! Continue reading “Post Production”

Time Change!

Good morning!

It is a certain time this morning but I swear it feels an hour earlier! (crickets)

This joke went over about as well as the one I made when dropping off the child at school latchkey this morning. Perhaps the extra earliness took away from the joke’s zing or perhaps it just wasn’t that funny, it matters not! We as a nation should feel outraged that collectively we were robbed of another hour! Stop taking our hours away!

I acknowledge that this practice of adding & subtracting sixty minutes twice annually was to somehow benefit the farming community (although I do not see how) but it is antiquated and should be discontinued! Moving the sunrise up and the sunset up in the short term changes nothing. The amount of work the farmers do is still the same! The rest of us poor schleps have to mentally deal with knowing that we are up an hour earlier with no real benefit. It’s madness I tell you!

OK it’s mostly just whining. This whole moving the clocks/time an hour does nothing to improve my status as a non-morning person. In fact, it probably cements it even more to the extent that I’m less of an early afternoon person based on my internal clock settings.

Moving forward (pun intended), write your global congressmen and women and demand an end to this silly practice of manipulating the clocks! We need every single hour in my estimation!

Everyone have a great Monday (as possible anyway) and talk to you soon!

Peace.

Did you get a haircut?

Good morning.

As some of you may know, I recently returned from my belated honeymoon/vacation in Cancun, Mexico. The temperatures were fantastic and the beaches were the softest sand I’ve have ever tread upon. Add in the all-inclusive food and drinks within the resort and it was a pretty spiffy time.

Red Bull: Peach

Hello!

Welcome one and all and one again! Today’s topic is the ‘new’ energy drink flavor from Red Bull known as Peach-Nectarine. As a big fan of their Tangerine flavor (orange can) along with the Kiwi-Apple (neon green can), I decided to try a new branch on their energy drink tree: The Peach Edition. March 5th!

Hello!

I have returned from Cancun Mexico, where the temperatures were anywhere from 79 degrees in the evening/morning to about 87-88 at their apex during the days, to here in St Louis where the temperature this morning was 6 degrees and there are remnants of snow and ice all about. It is truly a wonder…and freezing!

Please check out my personal website via Google. If you can find that, all else will follow! Have a great week and let’s connect again soon!

Peace.

<<03-05-2019>>

P.S. When I wrote this and recorded my podcast I thought the date was March 5th when in this reality…it is only March 4th! Plus all temperatures above are in Fahrenheit, not Celsius like the temps are noted in Cancun!

Play By Play for High School Basketball

Greetings!

Over the weekend I got the opportunity to team up with a friend who has started up a live streaming business. His name is Ray and this business entity is called LiveStreamSTL. In addition to being on Facebook, his streaming service can also be viewed from his website and through YouTube. I have done a few screen captures of the event to show our mugs and also I have included the link in case anyone wants to check out my first shot at doing basketball play by play.

This was a fun time and all the coordinating parties involved were very accommodating. Should be a good building block for when we head out on location again this coming Saturday (December 15th) to call and bring live more high school basketball games live from Jefferson College in Hillsboro, MO. Check these out and tune in this Saturday!

Everyone have a great week and talk to you soon!

Peace.  <<12-10-2018>>

Missouri does produce snow

Hi all! Or hey y’all! Your choice of which you prefer.

tanksnow

So it is once again mildly snowing here in the Show Me State. Tiny little frozen flakes of water are drifting down from the sky…only to disappear once they touch the ground surface. Why am I bringing this up? Because this is like the third or fourth time already this fall (not yet winter) that we have seen some sort of snow-like precipitation. This is quite noteworthy as I think we only managed two or three ‘snowfalls’ last fall and winter combined. The aggregate of those latter snowfalls I think was a centimeter.
