Customizing Your Heaven

Good day to one and all! Hopefully this Friday finds you in good spirits, good health and able to buy one or more items on minimal cost that are enjoyable to be consumed!

As it so happens I was recently attending a baseball game for the Major League Baseball team the St Louis Cardinals. My ticket for entry was given to me for free (which is always nice) and I was able to attend the game with some of the Halbrook family. After going through the stadium’s security ritual, where I was declared safe to enter, I ran into a friend I know through softball. My softball buddy’s name is Patrick and his son Austin was there as well. I have known both of them for a while; I even attended Patrick’s wedding reception earlier this year. Upon seeing Patrick and Austin, we shot the breeze (talked) for a bit before I wandered away to visit the men’s room on the way to my seat for the night. As far as the location of my seat goes, it was pretty good. We were situated about 10-15 rows back from the right field foul pole with a pretty decent view of the playing field and stadium as a whole. Ray Halbrook was delayed entering the stadium with some electronics but later he joined me at our seats. Eventually (about halfway through the game) Jeremy and his dad also joined us. Social (Media) Change in the Year 2018

Here is a thought I posted on my Facebook account earlier today. I later screen-shotted it and posted it on Twitter as the character/word length exceeded their posting guidelines.

I anticipate some negativity to flow up onto my shores for posting this and I’m fine with that. Some will that think I am stating that it is OK for people to hate and be negative for no apparent reason. That is not at all what I’m saying. The seed of what I am getting at is that there are individuals throughout the world as we know it that have small-minded thoughts based on upbringing or life experiences or whatever. There are innumerable times during every day that people say things or do things that may be judged as wrong or having malicious intent. I’m not giving those ‘wrong doers’ a pass. Not at all. We should all be accountable for our misdeeds and bad intentions if they cause someone real harm not just butt-hurt feelings. Continue reading “Social (Media) Change in the Year 2018”

Ninja Car Protector

jam

Good morning! This morning as I was rolling into work and decided to record my second podcast this week (https://scottlatta.podbean.com/e/sep-20-2018-60/). The main focus of the podcast was me addressing the horrendous traffic that we have been experiencing here lately in the St Louis area. My morning and evening commutes on a ‘normal’ day will usually take about 35 minutes each (roughly guestimating an average). But this week has been traffic ghastly. Auto accidents and stalled cars have been raining from the heavens it seems…without there actually being any physical rain to blame. Adding together my morning commute and evening commute from yesterday, my total drive time was in excess of three hours – easily more than doubling the norm for those combined drive times. Cleveland Indians vs the AL Playoff Contenders

Cleveland_Indians_logo.svg_

Hello! I am an avid follower of my Cleveland Indians, sometimes much to my chagrin. I usually do a piece once or twice per season to ‘break down’ my team’s performance and spotlight where I see concerns heading into the Hunt for October Gold. Many, many years ago I swore a personal oath that I would get a tattoo to commemorate if/when the Indians would win a World Series title in my lifetime. As of this writing, I have no such tattoo…but I’m ever hopeful. And for the record, it will be a full color or black and white rendering of Chief Wahoo. Those people who are offended by a cartoon rendering of an Indian or think that the depiction is offensive…get a clue and a life. I will not apologize for my stance on this topic and you can Google my other pieces that I’ve written detailing why the cartoon image should be left alone. What gets you excited?

america

Happy Friday! Today the calendar reads (not really, it’s an inanimate object after all) Friday, September 7th. On this date in history many, many things occurred! For instance, the city of Boston, Massachusetts was founded 388 years ago (1630). This is legit because Columbus quasi-discovered America in 1492 so it should be pretty accurate. According to the web, Interpol was formed in Vienna in 1923…kind of important. In 1979, the Entertain and Sports Programming Network (ESPN) makes its debut. Mark Whiten, of the St Louis Cardinals hits 4 homeruns and has 12 RBI’s in the second game of a double header in 1993. Sadly in 2011 a plane crashes in Russia killing 43 people aboard including the entire roster of the Lokomotiv Yaroslavl Kontinental Hockey League team.
