What’s That Smell?

Good morning and thank you for checking in on my blog today. Today I was in the public bathroom here at work and before you get that creepy vibe, it’s not going to be a clinical fact reporting detail of waste elimination volume, coloring or anything in that genre. Instead, I was amused by the interactions of a father (dad) and his 3-4 year old son, who did not let a second go by without rambling on at the mouth which most kids of that age seem to do. Below are a couple of nuggets out of that child’s mouth:

Child:  Dad, what’s that smell?

Dad: We’re in a bathroom, what do you think that smell is?

Child: Smells like number two.

Dead Space Four

Good morning or afternoon or twilight or darkness hours or whatever suits your present time situation. We collectively have edged into the second half of the month of July. This year has seemed to fly by quite quickly. Sometimes that is a good thing. There are people in the world healing from sickness and injuries and of course time is needed for that process to move along. For those with accrual time off systems through their workplace, that is also good so they can get more time off or eek out the time left until their time off ‘bank’ is replenished. (Raises hand) This last one is near and dear to my heart I must sadly report. Continue reading “Dead Space Four”

Happy Friday the 13th (2018)

Today is Friday the 13th. We have a weekend of leisure planned involving quasi-camping in a remote woodsy area. Probably do some drinking, engage in some adult shenanigans and play by the water. Seems like a great time, I’m sure nothing will go awry. Continue reading “Happy Friday the 13th (2018)”

Masterpiece Theater

Hello PBS fanatics!

Wait! I was kidding! Don’t go!

Good morning and happy post July 4th extended weekend shenanigans. To those people in my subdivision who waited until 10:30 pm last night (Sunday night) to exhaust the last of their July 4th fireworks stash, bravo. I especially liked their finale that wrapped up around 11:10 pm. Fireworks that screech and scream before exploding are always welcomed after 11 pm when I have already put the child to bed and there is a non-declawed cat sitting in my lap that is prone to being spooked easily. Again, bravo douchebags. Continue reading “Masterpiece Theater”

Tuesday July 3rd…I think it was the fourth of July

Good day! I was listening to the Chicago tune, Saturday in the Park on the way into work this morning. Great tune. They don’t make music like that anymore.

Fun fact: Although this song was recorded in the fall of 1971, it was released to radio in July 1972…which was right after I was born! Crazy feeling old! But regardless it’s a great song. Every day’s the fourth of July… Continue reading “Tuesday July 3rd…I think it was the fourth of July”

July 2nd – Kung Fu Fighting!! Maybe.

headband

As I am sitting here listening to the Pandora Music app, currently set to ‘Weird Al’ Yankovic Radio …I am being treated to a classic by Carl Douglas. Obviously I am referring to the biggest hit of his career: Kung Fu Fighting. Hard to believe that this song is more than 40 years old! Released to radio stations in 1974, it was his only #1 single. (They tried releasing it to Apple Music first but that wasn’t invented yet.) Stumped for another theme, his other single that year (Dance The Kung Fu) did not breach the Top 40 in the United States. Mr. Douglas was brought back to the forefront of all things Kung Fu in 1998 when Kung Fu Fighting was re-made for airplay by another musical group. That single only enjoyed moderate success in Australia, Ireland, New Zealand and the United Kingdom.
