2023 Creative Process

I started this blog on WordPress in 2013. Ten years later the world has changed in so many ways. My life has changed in so many ways. Based on the multiple endings and re-starts, many would’ve expected that Cat Lady Prophecy (of me) to have come to fruition. But as it sits today, just the two felines reside in my home. However, I’m simply a modest lotto win away from adding to that number to create a fluffy, spoiled Pride.

In 2013, many people read blogs on the daily. In today’s world, I think that practice is not very likely to be happening. It seems that everyday life moves too fast and no one has time to invest in reading a 8-15 minute piece about random riff-raff. Most digestible ideas and concepts need to be meme ready or reeled in by TikTok videos. Our society as a whole is so geared towards instant gratification that I fear at some point, the old ways will soon be lost to the current generation because the process(es) takes too long or there simply is an APP that does the task quicker (and better) for you. Some of the tasks made obsolete were perhaps better for our daily lives, but within those tasks sometimes there were life lesson on patience, discipline and attention to craft. Anyone, who ventures out into a public venue on a daily basis, should easily be able to see several examples of those three things being short-changed or short-cutted with regularity…and it’s a sad thing to behold.

I have always been stupidly optimistic. Ultimately I expect that quality will figure into my death somehow. Stay tuned. It took me quite a long time to understand my most effective internal process when it comes to being ‘creative’. Sometimes you have to release or put down what you’ve been holding onto instead of rolling it over and over in your mind. This can allow the next idea or concept to come along and not compete with the distraction of the other thing(s). Sometimes you may actually be able to get to the next level of an idea by purging the first phase that wasn’t able to cohesively come together. Just a little tip that has helped me decompress and get to new (better?) ideas and thoughts.

In closing, let me share with you, one of my favorite expressions over the years (one that I’ve used in many job interviews). It is:

If I got hit by a bus tomorrow, I’ve left the person following me a map of how to pick up my work or what was still needing to be accomplished. This fatalistic scenario is utilized to infer that everything can change in an instant, for good or ill. If the world internet got hit by a bus tomorrow, what would we be left with and how would those left move on?

Why don’t you write more?

Hello all. As I type this I am three days into a head cold, yes it’s just a head cold. This sucks. I’m not majorly debilitated in any way, I just have head congestion and a little scratchy throat. In years past, before the C word spread over the globe, I would’ve taken some Sudafed and boldly gone out into the world to carry on in spite of the sickness. Ah but this is the broken year 2020 and all the rules have changed. In the last 9 to 10 months, the old world has disappeared like the ice in a fast food cup sitting on the asphalt during the noon day sun of summer. Gone are the days of ‘toughing it out’. Replacing those sickly souls slogging along coughing and wheezing, are the devout hand-washers and toilet paper hoarders. We are sitting at three weeks to go until the end of this blasted year. I had remained virtually (ha, see what I did there?) sniffle-free for most of the year. Almost made it to the end. Oh so close.

Desktop Picture Purge – April 2020

Every so often I need to clean up my laptop desktop area. In doing so I tend to notice quite a bit has accumulated there. For your review and judgement, I present the most recent weeks worth of clutter. Enjoy. Stay safe out there.

Peace. <<04-22-2020>>

Post Production

Hello all!

I know the title sounds like I am wrapping up a movie or an epic HBO series but in reality, I’m talking about the output (quantity) of posts for my blog. So far this year of 2019 I have produced 16 posts (not including this one). By comparison, last year in June alone I posted 14 times!

AM I LOSING MY DESIRE TO WRITE AND SHARE?! AM I?! Continue reading “Post Production”

MLB: Recognize the Power of Three (year contracts)

Good day and welcome to my blog! Some days the topics are as random as they get and others I am very driven to box up a specific point (of view) and deliver it to my readers. Today is one of those such days!

December 3rd, 2018 – Monday – Planet Earth

Hello and welcome to my blog!

I hope your November concluded well. There are 21.5 days until Christmas! I have done zero shopping for gifts. In my defense I was hoping my luck/skill with the lottery numbers (Powerball) would improve. Alas no dice thusfar, so I shall be forced to acquire awesomely appropriate gifts on a minuscule budget…same as before.

For those who are interested, check out my Twitter account (oohaw94) or Facebook (scott.latta.7) or my two podcasts on the Podbean app (The Freak Show and Sports
Stalkers).

Have a great Monday and we will chat again soon!

Peace.  <<<12-03-2018>>>

Squirm!

Hello!

Squirm_movie_1976

In a recent podcast (The Freak Show on the Podbean app) from this month, I mentioned a “B” horror movie from the early 1980’s featuring thousands of worms taking out their aggression on the human race when a downed power line sends immeasurable amounts of electricity into the wet ground. Little did I know, until I Googled it, but this movie was actually from 1976! Sorry for the inaccuracy!

Blogging during Autumn 2018

Good morning! Today is Wednesday, October 17th. Officially today is day number 25 of Autumn or Fall if you prefer. Pumpkin spice everything is all about and the temps are finally in the 40’s-50’s-60’s. The days are getting shorter and trying to escape the warm bed in the morning to stumble about in the darkness to get ready for work is becoming quite the chore. My mental outlook is getting so critical that I’ve started throwing in a couple of dollars to the Mega Millions lotto crazy pool – presently the Jackpot is estimated at $868,000,000 for the Friday drawing. With that kind of money I could finance a Pitbull music video or something as equally frivolous! Continue reading “Blogging during Autumn 2018”

August 2nd – The day after the 1st…

mushu

Good day! Thank you for reading today’s blog post or posts…depending upon how motivated I let myself get. For those intently wondering, there are still no leaked reports to the interweb about a possible Snakes on a Plane 2 movie script or Broadway hopeful play script. I’ve tried to leak one myself but the web at large has categorically rejected it. C’mon how hard can that script be to do? The first one got made and the premise there was toilet paper weak. Currency Consistency

Good day! Hump (not) Day! Almost to July! I CAN wait! Most likely I will not have to because time seems to move and lurch forward in chunks these days. But until then, cherish your June time!

About a week and a half ago I was sitting in traffic, minding my own business, when a random unprovoked thought occurred to me: Why is there no $25 dollar bill? A few of you might have just mentally said: What you talkin bout Willis? Continue reading “Currency Consistency”

If I had five million dollars…

Good morning and welcome to June 5th 2018. What’s news and interesting? Do you know Bill Gates? Asking for a friend.

A Holiday Weekend in May

Good afternoon and welcome to the last Tuesday in May 2018 of your lifetime! I tried to come up with something clever and catchy for the title but as of the writing of this part…I hadn’t tapped into anything yet. Maybe it will just come to me. Time will tell.

The day is over before it has begun…

Does this happen to you? You wake up and your entire day is gone. When I say gone I mean that as soon as you wake up, the entire day is already planned and accounted for from start to finish. That is me some days and those are difficult days to muck my way through in my opinion. On a more stressful scale, I can only imagine what professional athletes or musical performers go through with waking up, working out, doing necessary obligations and then performing at the end of each night. Now multiple that scenario by months and you can kind of see why Britney Spears decided to go all psycho self-barber all those years ago. It can be a hollow feeling sometimes even if the day is filled with enjoyable activities. I like having a chunk of time or an entire day where there is nothing really imminent; I relish those valleys of activity. Continue reading “The day is over before it has begun…”

Laptop for writing needed

Hello!

Today is Thursday morning and I am surfing online trying to find a reasonably cheap but long term writing computer. No gaming, just something to plug away with to type up my stories (in Microsoft Word) and maybe have a browser window open in the background if I need to research something quickly. Continue reading “Laptop for writing needed”
