What if…

So let me throw out a hypothetical question: What if you were told you could not do the one thing you truly love to do anymore? It could be anything like… Continue reading “What if…”

Currency Consistency

Good day! Hump (not) Day! Almost to July! I CAN wait! Most likely I will not have to because time seems to move and lurch forward in chunks these days. But until then, cherish your June time!

About a week and a half ago I was sitting in traffic, minding my own business, when a random unprovoked thought occurred to me: Why is there no $25 dollar bill? A few of you might have just mentally said: What you talkin bout Willis? Continue reading “Currency Consistency”

Jurassic Tuesday

Good afternoon!

pine cones

Tonight I am supposed to drive to the stadium to see my Indians play the Cardinals but Mother Nature seems a bit weepy so the game may be delayed or postponed. If such should happen, my backup plan would be to see Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom again!  Continue reading “Jurassic Tuesday”

Oh Captain, My Captain…GOAL!

Happy Friday and joyous Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom Day to you! As most of the free world is engrossed with the FIFA World Cup (First In, First Asleep?), I was searching Netflix and Hulu streaming services for Jurassic Park or similar movies to have on as background noise at work. With the exception of the Lego version of Jurassic World, I struck out. For those regular readers of my blog, you already know my feelings on the Lego movies and their toys. Regular building block Legos are fine but all the Lego ships and beasts that just lose pieces or get de-constructed makes them be pointless in my opinion! And as far as the Lego movies go, just make them ‘real’ animation or don’t. There is no need to block the characters up in a Lego-like semblance – it’s not needed! The Hiring Process…the Last Part

Hello and thank you for reading at least this far. Over the last few years I have written a few blog pieces from the perspective of an employee within existing business or as a candidate of a potential employer. In my many years of being an adult I have had the pleasure (sarcasm) of going through the hiring process countless times. Unlike most people, I don’t fret about the interview(s). Yes the interview is the equivalent of a sales person getting their foot in the door to pitch their product; in this case I am the salesperson and I am pitching the product (myself) to the company that in theory needs me. By the time the interview is happening, I’ve already done my due diligence and found out as much about the company as Google and their company website can provide me. Also by this time, I am confident in knowing that at least on a baseline level, I have some (if not all) of the experience items on the company’s wish list of skills for the position. Once you qualify to be in a room with a recruiter or a person of importance with said company, it’s a whole other level and let the interviewing games begin: Continue reading “The Hiring Process…the Last Part”

Originals versus The Covers

Good morning! Welcome to my blog. As usual I have my own agenda and linear (into un-linear) thought process. This morning sitting in the car driving into work, I heard a song on the radio. The song I heard was from 1986, the band was Genesis and the song was Land of Confusion. Since that song was recorded over 30 years ago (wow, that hurt to type) there have been a few ‘covers’ of that song done. When I say covers, I mean of course that another band performed and recorded the song with their artistic touches added; or they were just trying to play the tune to the best of their abilities with the lead singer’s vocals to add a different sort of flair to the original (wooooo!). I already had a couple of topics in mind to blog about today but this concept jumped to the front of the line over the other contenders. So I present for your consideration and judgment(s) eight examples of fairly well-known songs that were remade or covered. I further weigh in on which version I prefer and any other tidbits I may find noteworthy. With prolonged ado, ado, ado, ado and ado…I give you these eight songs:

LeBron James the Starfish

Good day! Welcome to my pro-Michael Jordan Blog. For the record I am also pro-Dr. J, aka Julius Erving. With the initial statement that I am pro-Jordan many of you basketball fans may be thinking I am already intimating that LeBron James is an inferior or a terrible player. On the contrary, I think LeBron James is indeed the King of his era. Continue reading “LeBron James the Starfish”

Suicide Awareness

The year was 1986 and I was a 14 year old freshman in high school when I first tried to end my life…

Back in 1986 there was no Twitter, there was no Facebook and there was no Instagram or the plethora of other social media outlets to draw a ground swell of attention to social issues and topical relevant trending events. Back then 1 out of 1000 of the ‘happenings’ were reported and that was just typically on the nightly news. Oftentimes serious events or noteworthy occurrences in other states or worldwide took weeks to be reported and then it would be in periodical magazines or in the newspapers. Believe it or not, there were school shootings decades ago that happened…but there was no instant broadcast vehicle to relay the information around the globe. For those that have only existed in this instant gratification world of constantly evolving and morphing new age technologies, these concepts must be unfathomable. Continue reading “Suicide Awareness”

Stuff on my Desktop

Tuesday clean up in progress! It’s time to delete some of the silly stuff I saved to my desktop over the last few days. Feel free to interpret or judge as you will!

Hi to all those not disturbing the mojo of other people for no reason!

Peace

If I had five million dollars…
